Quick way to fix the winlogon.exe – application error
If you are thinking of repairing or formatting your windows using the installation CD to fix the winlogon exe application error, then you should know that repairing the windows won’t actualy help. It will solve the problem only temporarily. You can follow the procedure explained below.
This may sound a bit adventurous and risky, but you always have the option of repairing, in case something goes wrong. Go into your registry and dump everything containing the phrase winlogon.exe. Also run a general file search and dump every winlogon.exe file you can, including cache and prefetch files. You don’t need to dump the main winlogon.exe unless a virus scan shows that it is also infected. Reboot the system and you will not see the winlogon.exe – application error again.
